Our
Purpose
There
are many activities that the Society will undertake. One of the primary goals
will be to encourage the continuing education of Society members through the
completion of LOMA coursework and Society sponsored presentations.
Equally
important is the Society's role to recognize the achievements of designees from
our area. To accomplish this, the Society will host an annual banquet to
recognize and celebrate the achievements of the most recent designees in our
area.
In addition to the activities listed above, participation by members of the
Society will allow an additional opportunity to interact with financial and
insurance professionals from the area during participation in Society events.
These events can range from educational presentations sponsored by the Society,
social events to promote networking opportunities, to Society community service
projects.
History of the Society
The Society was officially formed November
3rd, 2005. On that evening the prospective members of the Society voted on the
Society constitution / bylaws, and also elected an initial slate of officers.
The initial meeting was attended by 50 individuals who were interested in the
opportunities that the Society is able to make available to them.
During 2006 the Society will continue to grow, and as we grow we will continue
to extend an invitation to members of the insurance and financial industry to
participate in our events. The Society will host quarterly meetings which will
include a speaker who will present on an industry related topic. The final
meeting of the year is the Society's annual meeting where the new LOMA designees
are recognized and a new slate of officers are elected.
In addition to formal meetings the Society will host social events and other
charitable events for the community. The extent of the Society's activities are
driven by the needs and suggestions of its membership, so the opportunities of
the membership are only limited to their participation.
